REALTOR® Safety - North Carolina Association of REALTORS®

The safety of our members is a top priority with the North Carolina Association of REALTORS®. Our members routinely find themselves in situations where they are alone with clients or customers about whom they have very little information. The very nature of showing real estate to prospective buyers and tenants who are virtual strangers can make agents, both men and women, susceptible to becoming victims of violent crimes.

NCAR aims to provide members with practical and updated safety information. Click here for the NC Real Estate Agent Safety Guide!

Our very own Janet Cox with Jon Plyler, from Fight to Win Jui-Jitsu in Denver, demonstrating tips and tricks to keep our REALTORS safe.  Who says our meetings are boring?

This report contains the results of a survey of REALTORS® which asked about:

  • How safe or unsafe they feel

  • The root causes of any unsafe feelings

  • Steps or procedures they follow to ensure safety

  • What methods of self-defense they use

The goal of the report is to measure and understand the scope of the problem, so that real estate professionals can develop the resources, programs, and technologies they need to keep themselves safe.
